Project description:

A transportation model was established for the City of Port Louis in 2001, as part of the Integrated National Strategy Study of Mauritius. In 2006 the Mauritian government decided to update that strategic transport demand model, and Aurecon was subsequently appointed by the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Land Transport and Shipping to provide macro-level transport modelling software and a number accompanying services in order to secure the successful implementation of the project.

Aurecon supplied and installed specific macro-level transport modelling software on the client's computers and provided the necessary software licences, as well as maintenance and software support for a period of one year. Aurecon was also tasked with reviewing the current transport base model and test four scenarios, including new road schemes, road charging and parking restraints. The strategic transport demand model was updated and land use impact, road and public transport projects and traffic management schemes was tested. Aurecon provided all teaching materials, and trained six of the client's technicians in the use of the software over a ten day period.
